Obituary of Lynda Kathryn Jackson

Peacefully at Southampton Care Centre Tuesday February 7, 2017. Lynda Jackson (nee Edwards) of Sauble Beach and formerly of Chesley in her 76th year. A devoted wife, wonderful mother, a much loved grandmother and successful business lady who placed family first. Lynda grew up in Aultsville, Ontario - one of the lost villages flooded for the St. Lawerence Seaway. She met her husband Keith while at Queen's University and after a stint of teaching at Kemptville and Kingston she moved to Chesley. While being a mother to son Ian and daughter Marsha, she still managed to find time to teach and serve 3 terms on the Chesley Town Council. She loved being at Sauble Beach and this translated into various business ventures including 25 years at the Seagull Gifts and 19 years at the Driftwood Restaurant. Many will remember her as the welcoming and highly organized governess of the dining room and she made many friends there. She was also the orginator and creative force at the Seagull Gifts. In her spare time Lynda enjoyed knitting socks for Keith, playing bridge with him, and their travels together to Australia, Mexico and Europe. Lynda is survived by her husband Keith of Sauble Beach, daughter Marsha (Phill) Hearn of Rockhampton, Australia, and grandchildren Lauren and Seth as well as her sister Anne (Gerald) Lapinsky of Hamilton and brother Brian (Diane) Edwards of Dundela. She was predeceased by her parents Marshall and Lena (nee Gallinger) Edwards and by her son Ian (1995). The family will receive friends at the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from RHODY FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, Chesley on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service.
