Obituary of Roxy-Gail Edwards

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Roxy-Gail Edwards, at the age of 89 years, peacefully at the Chapman House Residential Hospice, Owen Sound on December 19, 2021.    Roxy is survived by her loving husband John, cherished son Mark, dear grandsons Dan (Laura) and Derek (Chloe) and great grandson Calvin.

Roxy completed her Registered Nurse training at St. Josephs in London, Ontario, and continued her nursing education achieving her BScN and MScN degrees through the University of Western Ontario.  Her working career culminated in administration positions at Public General Hospital in Chatham, Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital in Strathroy and as Executive Director at Bruce Peninsula Health Services in Wiarton.

In addition to her focus on administration in the hospital field, Roxy was a Surveyor for the Canadian Council of Health Services Accreditation for 17 years, carrying out hospital surveys across Canada. 

Roxy believed strongly in continuing education and lifelong learning.

Private family funeral arrangements entrusted to DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth.  Spring interment Zion Cemetery, Hepworth.  A private family celebration of life will be planned for a later date.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Wiarton Hospital (c/o Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation), Wiarton Salvation Army or Chapman House Residential Hospice would be appreciated by the family.

The family wish to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Chapman House of Owen Sound and especially to Dr. Larry Schmidt and staff at the Sauble Medical Clinic, as well as the team of special nurses who provided exemplary home and palliative care.  Throughout, Roxy never lost her sense of humour or optimism.
