Obituary of Dorothy Welsh

On December 24, 2022, beloved mother Dorothy Ellen Welsh (nee McCulloch) passed away at the age of 97 with her daughter Betty Welsh and son-in-law Barry Gilchrist of Leith at her side, along with the caring staff of Country Lane Long Term Care Residence in Chatsworth.  Dorothy worked as a Red Cross homemaker for 25 years.  At the age of 13 her father bought her a suitcase and she went to her first job as a mother's helper.  She was known for always being one to help others.  She worked hard all her life, but also loved music, dancing, knitting, sewing and quilting.  Dorothy will be missed by sister-in-law Jo Taylor (Ed) and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by her husband James A. Welsh, son Robert Welsh, parents Olive Edna (nee Crawford) and Wilber E. McCulloch and siblings Evelyn Blue (Alvin), Herb McCulloch (Jean) and Earl McCulloch.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 1:30 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted to the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth.  Expressions of remembrance to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family through www.downsandsonfuneralhome.com
