Obituary of Mary Atkinson

ATKINSON, Mary peacefully passed away with family by her side at Chapman House Grey Bruce Hospice, Owen Sound on Friday, February 2, 2024.  Mary Atkinson (nee Hauraney) of Sauble Beach was in her 107th year.  Beloved wife of the late Ernest J. Atkinson (1981).  Dear sister of David Hauraney (wife Shirley) of Orillia.  Sadly missed by her niece Sheri (husband Larry)  and nephews Neil (wife Darla and son Brayden), James and Stephen.  Predeceased by parents Jennie (nee Salloum) and James Hauraney, brothers Sheffield, Peter, Alex and Norman, sisters Dorothy Hauraney, Helen Williams and Edna Barth, niece Sandra and nephew Jeffrey. The family extends its most sincere thanks to Tamara, Jackie, Stacey, Heather, Katie, Bev & Kyle for their compassionate and caring support. Mary's smile and generosity lit up every room she entered. She was known for her wit, humor, and lively spirit. Her light-hearted humor brought joy to all who knew her. She loved living in Sauble Beach, and was so proud of her family. Mary leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love and beautiful memories,  that will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known her. She will live on in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held at the Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, 1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga on Friday Feb 9, 2024 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Visitation  Saturday Feb 10, 2024 from  10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The funeral service will be conducted in the Simple Alternative Funeral Centre Chapel on Saturday Feb 10, 2024 at 11 a.m.  Remembrance lunch following service. Interment Highland Memory Gardens, North York to follow.

Arrangements entrusted to the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth. In lieu of flowers expressions of remembrance to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Sauble Beach United Church would be appreciated.
